Manual Virus Definitions Update

McAfee VirusScan ASaP has a very proactive approach to updating it's virus definitions.  If you have an ADSL internet connection, McAfee VirusScan ASaP will check for the latest updates every four hours and silently download them silently as required.  If you have a dial-up connection using a standard 56k modem, McAfee VirusScan ASaP will check for updates each time you connect to the internet.  Because the update is silent (it runs in the background) it is possible that the update will not complete before you disconnect from the internet.

To Update Your McAfee VirusScan ASaP Virus Definitions Manually:

Connect to the internet

Then double-click the McAfee icon in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen.
(It may be hidden, in which case you simply click on this icon to display the hidden items in your system tray)

McAfee VirusScan ASaP will check for updates
and download the latest virus definitions

If there are no updates available,
the following dialog box will be displayed

Please note:  The updating of your virus definitions could take up to half an hour over a normal dial-up connection.  The dialog box displayed above will show the progress of the update and will close automatically when the updates are complete.
