CRT Computer Screens
also
known as monitors |
|
There is no other way to
describe what has been the "normal" type of computer screen for the
last 20 years or more! CRT is an acronym for Cathode Ray Tube,
which simply refers to the technology used in the screen, which is
much the same as that used in televisions. The
newer LCD screens are of much sleeker
design and save a lot of desk space, however they are a tad more
expensive, but the prices are greatly reduced compared with last
year. Note also that most manufacturers have dropped the
CRT screens from their range, so if you need a screen with a smaller
footprint you should consider an LCD flat screen.

Philips 107e
17" CRT Colour Screen (3 year warranty)
Brilliant value for money, this is our recommended screen for
general purpose computer use. The optional multimedia speaker
base is well worth the small amount extra as it provides a good
level of sound in a neat package which fits beneath the screen and
reduces cable clutter. |

Philips 109b 19" CRT Colour Screen (3 year warranty)
These larger screens are becoming more popular as prices come down;
a 19" screen for under $500 was unheard of a few years ago.
For design work, or any graphics intensive applications where fine
detail is required, there are a couple of higher specification
models in the 19" range. |

Philips 201b
21" CRT Colour Screen (3 year warranty)
This unit is very good value and ideal for architects and
draftspersons who require plenty of screen space to create their
masterpieces. Again, just a few years ago, this size screen
was over $3,000, so if you can't bring yourself to go for the 20"
LCD model, this is the go. |
