There are half a dozen
different memory card formats which are used in digital cameras;
Compact Flash (or CF cards) are the most popular and suit a wide
range of digital cameras. We recommend the Legend range of
Compact Flash memory cards, although there a number of generic
brands which are also available. The Sony Memory Stick is compatible
with other Sony devices. Note that a 1600 x 1200 resolution
digital photo will print very nicely to A4 size on photo paper.
You will need to refer to the documentation which was supplied with
your digital camera to calculate how many photos at which resolution
will fit on a given memory card. Here is a
500kb example of a typical 1600 x 1200 photo taken with a 2
megapixel camera.

When it comes to memory cards, big is beautiful! The
standard memory card you get with a typical digital camera is
usually too small for anything
other than the lowest resolution photos. We recommend a
minimum of 128mb which will store around 150 good quality photos at
1600 x 1200 resolution, however if you have a 3 megapixel camera
or higher, you should use 256mb memory cards or larger.
A 4 megapixel
camera will need about 2 megabytes of storage space for each photo
taken at the highest resolution.
