Of all the components
which make up a computer, the price of memory chips fluctuates more
than any other. There is a world spot market for the silicon
wafers from which memory chips are assembled and prices do fluctuate
weekly. The current memory type in modern computers is DDR2 RAM
(Double Data Rate Random Access Memory), otherwise the most recent
memory type used in most computers is DDR-RAM. Much older
computers use SDRAM. The memory types are not interchangeable,
so you will need to be aware of which type of memory your computer
uses before considering a memory upgrade.
