together to form a peer-to-peer network, or a client-server network
with a dedicated fileserver. The connecting of each computer
to the network switch is quite straightforward, however the
configuring of network cards in each computer and the setting up of
the network may require technical support, just

The advantage of networking via a hub or a switch is that if a
cable fault occurs, only one workstation is affected, unless it's
the fileserver connection of course! The maximum length of a
network cable from a computer to a switch, or between two
switches, is 80 metres. In a larger network, we recommend
that the network cabling be tested and certified prior to
commissioning the network.
