Video Capture Cards
Your choice of video capture card depends on a number of factors; the type of camera you have and whether it is analogue or digital, and what you actually plan to do with the captured video.  For example you may wish to capture the video and copy it back to tape, or you may decide to create a video CD where the movie can be viewed on any computer, or in a compatible DVD/VCD player connected to a television.

A word from Greg ...

Windows XP has some basic movie capture and editing features, so if your camera has a Firewire interface, you could just purchase a Firewire capture board or USB adaptor for your PC and get started at a much lower cost.  You can then upgrade your software capabilities as and when required.

You will also need a relatively recent computer with plenty of processing speed, memory and hard disk storage space.  Upgrade options for your computer are available of course!
