1974 - 1977
First hockey clubrooms at Ravendale, constructed from building materials gathered from an old house from behind Cresco.  The new clubrooms are located on exactly the same site.

- 2003
Former Tasman Football Clubrooms on Freeman Avenue, now home of the KiddyWinks Childcare Centre.

1977 - 2005
Second hockey clubrooms at Ravendale, constructed in 1977-78 based on a double garage.  The toilets were the TV style units from Holidayland, a facility which was on the same site as the present Lincoln Cove Marina

25 May 2005
Site for the new joint use clubrooms from the new artificial hockey pitch looking across Ravendale to the Show Society hall.  It is anticipated that construction will be completed in February 2006.  You will notice the reason for the wide shot as we go along.... :)

2 June 2005
DK Quarries have started the earthworks, the site is being leveled and prepared for the foundations.  Work has also been done to identify the location of the electrical conduit for the building and for lights

16 June 2005
Earthworks are complete, plumbing fittings installation has started prior to the foundations going down.

16 June 2005
These are the conduits for the cables for the electricity for the lights for the artificial hockey pitch, some of which we hope to have in place by the end of the hockey season.

7 July 2005

Not even the dark clouds the farmers had been waiting for could slow construction.  The plumbing is in, the fortecon is laid ready for some weldmesh and formwork

7 July 2005
Where the hockey clubrooms used to be located.  You can see that earthworks for the new carpark adjacent to the grass hockey field is well under way.

19 July 2005
The afternoon before the first concrete pour and there is feverish activity to get everything ready for 5.00am the next day.

19 July 2005
There is quite a bit of steelwork going in to this building, this is just some of the reinforcing material being used.  And yes those long pieces are pointing towards the top story.

19 July 2005
I really must get some names so I can tell you who is working on the site, perhaps someone can email me and let me know!

19 July 2005
And this is just half of the slab being prepared.  This is the hockey change-rooms side

19 July 2005
Meticulous attention to detail of course! And what's that sign say in the background....?

19 July 2005
No point in this photo of course, just showing my artistic side.  Tomorrow I should be able to include a photo of a concrete mixer to match.  For the technically inclined, this is a pile of weld-mesh laying in the late afternoon sun!

20
July 2005
No, not the middle of the night, concreters start early, real early!  This photo was taken at 5.30am and it was a bit dark as you can see.

20 July 2005
The first of 150 cubic metres of concrete pours into the foundations.  A rotation of 3 concrete mixer trucks kept refilling the big white truck with the long concrete dispenser.

20 July 2005
View from the other side of the hockey pitch, yes that is the moon quite high in the sky!

20 July 2005
There was a veritable flurry of activity as the concrete started to pour.  Apparently there is a rule which states that once you start you can't stop.

20 July 2005
More concrete pouring our

20 July 2005
There is probably a name for this big white truck with a long concrete dispenser.

20 July 2005
Wide shot from the oval side

20 July 2005
Mid-morning and they are still at it, and check out the quality of the weather!

20 July 2005
Shiny new concrete finished by Dave Kavanagh who did not need the assistance of Williams the Concreter this time around.

20 July 2005
Mid afternoon and the job's done.  Well, half the job's done at least.

20 July 2005
You can see the trenches have been dug for the second half of the slab, this will boxed up and meshed etc over the next week or so ready for the second concrete pour.

20 July 2005
Hey, you could dance on this....!

8 August 2005
The second concrete pour started at 5.00am, as you can see from the photos the sun was  a bit higher in the sky this time around.... :)

8 August 2005
In the foreground is the day bar area which will be paved instead of concreted.  Most of the floor area downstairs will be covered in vinyl which is why the concrete is so smooooooth.

8 August 2005
Showing my artistic side again, looking through the reinforcing in the pillars which will support the top floor.

8 August 2005
Stacks of bricks ready to be used to construct the concrete pillars.

8 August 2005
Doug McFarlane is in charge of bricks, in no time at all there will be brick towers all over the place.  It's great to see local trades-people getting behind the project with enthusiasm!

8 August 2005
Wide shot of the nearly completed slab showing the brick support pillars in the foreground.

10 August 2005
This is one of the bases for the light poles for the artificial hockey pitch.  Note the big nuts.

10 August 2005
These guys really know how to lay bricks.  And you can only see one crack which is a good effort given there are so many bricks.  The row of daffodils in front is the lift well.

10 August 2005
View of the northern brick pillars from the hockey pitch.

15 August 2005
Stonehenge down under!  These brick pillars will support the second storey.  The larger column on the right is the lift well.

15 August 2005
You turn your back for one minute and someone digs a new trench!  This one is for the waste water disposal.

15 August 2005
You really need to know your plumbing to know what this is, Tony King tells me this is the grease trap for the kitchen waste, we must be expecting to trap a lot of grease.  I guess this means a grease trap cleaning roster Hanneli?

15 August 2005
Phil, Phil, Phil.....  I did as much as I could but this is level as I could get it.  Thank heavens our master surveyor Phil Dansie sorted things out after I departed so I can assure you everything is now on the level.

15 August 2005
Just to confirm that Ravendale is still a hive of activity, these guys are working on the carpark in the corner adjacent to the grass hockey field.

15 August 2005
No reason for this photo I'm afraid, I just love pictures of trucks, tractors and graders.  This grader is working on the oval surrounds.

20 August 2005
The trucks carrying the steel frames for the clubrooms arrived today, this is a pallet of bolts......

20 August 2005
We love to see people enjoying their work!

20 August 2005
Our light poles are ready to go up, and they are hardly in the way of construction of the clubrooms at all....:)

20 August 2005
These are they whom all this is for, and of course for those who are slightly older and want to watch a game of hockey or footy from the comfort of our new clubrooms.

23 August 2005
Up go the support beams and girders, there is bound to be a reason why some are grey and some are brown, but it looks like everything is fitting together perfectly

23 August 2005
We have steps already!  They don't go anywhere at the moment, but when the building is complete these stairs give access to the balcony overlooking the hockey pitch.

23 August 2005
Upstairs is the bar and creche, downstairs is one of the hockey changerooms and the medical room.

23 August 2005
Steelwork construction well under way

23 August 2005
Note one of our new light towers sneaking into this picture.

23 August 2005
Wide shot from the football oval with a couple more of our light towers.

23 August 2005
Up goes the first light tower

23 August 2005
Here comes the light frame assembly for the second tower

23 August 2005
Fitting the light frame assembly to the apex of the tower

23 August 2005
Up goes the second light tower

23 August 2005
N early there!

23 August 2005
Jockeying for position.

23 August 2005
I couldn't fit the fourth light tower into this shot, but at least yu can see it's shadow!

23 August 2005
And here is what it looks like at the top of each tower, 5 lamps @ 2000 watts each = 10,000 watts per tower.

25 August 2005
The steel framework for the top floor is pretty well finished

25 August 2005
Night hockey at last, four light poles are up and the clubrooms framework is complete

We have some wall frames, and you can see the form work to support the concrete floor

5 October 2005
Supports in place for the concrete floor, these will remain for at least a week after the top floor is poured

5 October 2005
The rounded section is the glass windows facing the football oval, and at the end is the balcony over the front entrance

5 October 2005
Re-inforcing mesh is in and good to go

5 October 2005
View from the balcony on the hockey side and you can see the curved area which is where the glass wall will keep spectators toasty warm

5 October 2005
View from where the glass wall will be over looking the hockey pitch

5 October 2005
And the most important bits of all, these are the holes which will run the beer and soft drink lines to the main upstairs bar!

5 October 2005
View from the balcony overlooking the football oval, you can see the lift well and the curved area where the floor to celing windows will be

5 October 2005
All ready for 300 tonnes of concrete!

11 October 2005
And here it comes, two concrete pumps, a cluster of concrete mixers and a big gang of hard working concretes.  Only a 6.00am start though......

11 October 2005
Concreting can be fun!

11 October 2005
Concrete plus mesh = sturdy top floor

11 October 2005
Artistic shot for Tony

11 October 2005
My favourite photo of the day, just a teensy weensy bit of concrete slopped over the edge for effect.

11 October 2005
A pair of pumps, any more and we would have a plethora

11 October 2005

11 October 2005
You could dance on this....hang on, we will be!

11 October 2005
Mmmm........Beer.......

14 October 2005
Not that we are focused on beer in particular, but the Foster's boys seem to have the attention of Rusty and Jack!

17 October 2005
Our local trades people are enjoying superb working conditions, and with a view to boot....

17 October 2005
Wall frames are now being constructed ready for an erection by the builder.

25 October 2005
That board was bent to start with, honest!

25 October 2005
Wall frames being positioned on the top floor.  Note that it is important to hold your tongue right....

27 October 2005
One of the footy change rooms. Big, isn't it?

3 November 2005
You can see the canteen servery at left of picture with toilets to the right, this is the hockey pitch side.
