McAfee VirusScan ASaP is
actually a software licence and the software is installed via the
internet. As with any new software installation, it is
recommended that you have reliable backups of your key data files
before you start. Lincoln Computer Centre does not warrant
that the installation (or uninstall) of any software on your
computer will be trouble-free. If you are unfamiliar with
installing/uninstalling software on your computer, we recommend that
you engage us or your regular IT support people.
The installation process
is as follows:
1.
Uninstall your existing AntiVirus software
- Choose Start,
Control Panel (or Start, Settings, Control Panel)
- Select the name of
your existing antivirus program from the list
- Choose
Change/Remove and follow the instructions displayed on the
screen
- Restart your
computer
2.
Connect to the Internet
3. Browse to the
link supplied by LCC
- We will have
already emailed you a web link to suit
4.
The following pop-up window will appear
5. Enter your email address
and choose Continue
- If this computer does not have a
unique email address, enter an identifying name (without spaces)
6. The installation will
commence automatically
- You may be asked to authorise
McAfee to install software on your computer
- Choose Yes/OK
7. When the installation is
complete, the pop-up window will close automatically
- You will notice the McAfee icon
(a small shield with a red V) at the bottom-right of your screen
- Right-click the McAfee icon and
choose Scan Now, My Computer to perform a full virus scan
- When complete you will be able to
view and/or print the report
