Microsoft Windows Updates |
|
If your computer
has Windows 98 or later installed, you have a very useful feature
called Windows Update installed. The widespread use of the
internet means that software developers no longer need to make their
software perfect before release; if there are any problems
encountered in the marketplace the developer can simply produce a
fix in the form of a software update, or patch, and have you
download it to update your system. So, when you buy a piece of
new software off the shelf, chances are the first thing you will
need to do when it is installed is to connect to the internet and
check for the latest updates! Microsoft is no exception, and
regularly provides security updates and patches using the Windows
Update feature. We firmly recommend that all Windows users
take advantage of this feature to improve the stability of your
computer system and to minimise the risk of viruses and other
malicious software affecting your computer.

A
word from Greg ... |
|
 |
|
It's
disclaimer time again!
Whilst we highly
recommend the regular application of any critical updates provided
by Microsoft via the Windows Update feature, there may some
unintended or unexpected consequences. At worst, your
computer could stop functioning completely, although this is rare,
so we encourage you to make sure you have secure backups of
your valuable data before applying any updates to your
computer. On older computers, it is also quite likely the
overall performance of your computer will drop even though the
reliability may improve! Only one solution for this I'm afraid,
you will need to boost the performance of your computer. |
